Happy Thanksgiving! Studio will be closed Tuesday Nov 25- Sunday Nov 30th. Classes resume on Monday December 1st

 

SECOND ANNUAL SPAGHETTI DINNER Fundraiser to be held this year at St. Mary's Church (corner of 5th and Ann Street) SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2008 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Games, face painting, balloon animals by Ashley and 6 extremely awesome baskets loaded with great items donated from local merchants to be raffled. (See Below). Spaghetti Dinner Tickets need to be purchased in advance at the studio or a from a Company member. Adult 13 and up $6.00, Child 4-12 $3.00, Children 3 and under FREE

 

Your support is truly appreciated by the Company Dance Members. These fundraisers help the dancers help their families with competition fees. Many of which are not old enough to get jobs to help with the finances of competition but they can help by selling tickets, serving, cleaning up, painting faces, making balloon animals, etc.

Gift Basket Raffle: Drawing November 8th. DO NOT NEED TO BE PRESENT TO WIN!! Valued @ $100-$200 each gift baskets are on display in front studio lobby & on website www.techniquesinmotion.com. Themes: "Simply Wilmington", "Living Out Loud", Head To Toe", Tutus To Taps, "Amethyst Passion" & "Family Fun". Basket raffle tickets are $1.00 = 1 ticket, $ 5.00 = 6 tickets, $10.00 = 12 tickets, $20.00 = 25 tickets. Purchase at front desk, studio lobby or from company dancer.

 

 

"Fall Into Dance" Studio Sleepover

Date: November 15th (sat) drop off by 7pm -November 16th (Sun) pick up by 8am

 

Fun Activities include: making t-shirts, playing games, paint nails, color, watch movies, pizza & of course DANCE & TUMBLING!!!

 

Cost: 25.00 per child / 45.00 for 2 children in the same household. Cash preferred. Checks payable to T.I.M. Booster

SPRING 2009 RECITAL INFO: All Dance families PLEASE READ below OR REFER TO STUDIO HANDBOOK OR WEBSITE

Recital Costume Payments:

First Spring Recital Costume fee: $35.00 WAS due Fri Oct. 17th

Final Spring Recital Costume fee: $35.00 IS due Fri Nov. 14th

If Recital Costume payments are not received by November 30th costumes will not be ordered.

Recital Costumes are ordered for all dancers in all dance classes male & female and must be paid for in advance to insure dancer's participation. The costume fee is $70.00 and must be paid within 2 installments. This fee includes, recital costume, all accessories (except shoes) such as props, hairpieces, tights etc.

All costume payments are final and non-refundable regardless of circumstance. Separate checks from tuition PLEASE

8 years-teen students enrolled in ballet will require a separate costume. Additional charges will be assessed if a student is enrolled in more than one "block" of classes and therefore need more than the allotted class costume. Billing statements for additional costumes will be distributed at a later date. Adult Students DO participate in the Spring Recital however in most cases Adult Classes (Tap & Hip-Hop) Do Not pay for a Recital Costume. The instructor & adult class members decide upon stage outfits for adults for the performance. Any costume orders placed after January 15th will include additional shipping charges.

ALL Events are held at Kenan Auditorium, UNCW Campus

 

 

On Going Company Fundraisers:

 

 Monkey Junction Salsa" is on sale in the studio lobby for $3.00 per pint & $6.00 pr quart. Company dad, Kenny O'Leary, as a fundraiser for his daughters, Aubrey & Haley, makes this delicious treat.

 KaDe Designs, family members of Cody & Shannon Clark, are selling adorable handmade purses or dance bags in front studio lobby.

 Cartridges for Kids: We will take ALL of your empty laser, fax, copier, and inkjet cartridges as well as used cell phones, laptops, Palm Pilots, and iPods to raise funds for the company members. Drop off box is located in the studio lobby. All donations are appreciated.

 T.I.M. Competition Team members are selling water bottles for $1.00 each in studio lobby. Please see Miss Ashley @ reception desk for assistance.

 Need a little extra help with your little ones? T.I.M. Company Members, Cindy Sills, Casey Hartlaub & Tori White are offering babysitting services to raise $$ for their competition expenses. Need someone that drives? See Miss Ashley @ Reception desk babysits as well. If interested please contact Mrs. Terrie.

 

Thanks to all of you for your continued support of all fundraisers and the studio competition members! Fundraisers aid the teams in their travel and competition expenses and are located in studio front lobby, announced in monthly newsletters & posted in studio & on website.

We are in the beginning process of gathering items for a "Beverly Hillbillies" Production Number. We are looking for any type of clothing for the "hillbilly" dancers that may be donated to us from overalls, denim, plaid shirts, straw hats and pant suits for girls, dressy style clothes, skirts, and dresses for "Beverly Hills" rich girls. Costume jewelry, fake pearls, etc. Any thing you can find in the kids or even your closet that you will no longer need. We are also looking for: Bike horn, 2 shotguns, small brown or black suitcase, spoons, pocket knife, tree stump, salt & pepper shakers, men's suits, women's suits, wigs, etc. thank you in advance for your help.

 

 

STUDIO REMINDERS:

To all Wednesday dance families:

We have been blessed with a very busy Wednesday class schedule & enrollment. In order to continue to offer quality dance instruction in our facility we need your assistance. Dancers only in the hallways in between classes Please. There is limited space and others standing @ doorways & in the hallways makes it difficult for the dancers to get into & out of their classroom. Parents/Guardians please remain in the lobby areas. We will make sure the younger dancers get to you and Miss Ashley will insure no one leaves without parental supervision. Between 400-630pm Please do not block the drive thru or area near the pond with your cars. Parents are unable to back out of the parking spaces. Thank you in advance.

T.I.M. Studio Policies & Classroom Protocol:

Please refer to Studio Handbook (distributed to each studio family upon enrollment) or see Website: www.techniquesinmotion.com

Please remind students to use restroom prior to class time.

Monthly news is available to all students enrolled at T.I.M. School of Dance. Please take the time to read all information provided. This will help to eliminate confusion or missed due dates at a later point. Newsletters, class schedules, announcements, etc. are posted on studio website: www.techniquesinmotion.com, available in studio lobbies and distributed via the Email addresses provided on registration forms.

Dance Account Questions: Please contact Mrs. Terrie during morning business hours 10am-2pm or Miss Ashley at front desk.

Studio Logo Wear: Studio shirts & sweatpants are on display in lobby. See Receptionist to order. Payments should be made payable to T.I.M. upon ordering. Approximately 2 weeks arrival times. Car Decals are also available to order.

Monthly Studio Tuition is due the first lesson of each month. Each tuition payment is the same regardless of the amount of lessons in a given month. An absence is not an excuse for late payment and the late fee of $20.00 is enforced. All tuition payments are considered late if not paid by the 15th of each month. Payments may be deposited in the payment box located in the lobby. Please indicate dancer's name on the payment, especially if dancer's last name is not the same as the parents. Please attempt to bring exact cash payments otherwise we will credit the dancer's accounts for the following month.

NOTE: Monthly tuition reminders will be sent to all studio families via email. Statements will also be sent via email or regular mail to those past due accounts. If tuition is two months past due the student will not be allowed to participate in class until account is paid in full.

Dress code: Proper dance attire & shoes are necessary for all students in all classes. Leotards and tights of any color and style are required. Tap & Jazz students may wear jazz pants over leotard and tights. Hip-Hop students may wear jazz pants over leotard or shorts & T-shirts. Jeans or revealing clothing, etc., are not acceptable. Hair must be secured away from the face. No excessive jewelry should be worn to class. Male dancers should wear loose fitting clothing for all dance classes to allow for stretching. Adult students should wear comfortable clothing. If the students dress like dancers, they will feel like dancers, act like dancers and perform like dancers!!! Please check the lost & found container for missing items. Unclaimed property will be donated at the end of each month.

Due to liability "HEELIES" are not allowed in the Studio.

We invite you to visit our consignment area, "Tender Techniques" located in the back of the studio for great deals on used shoes and FREE dancewear!! Please continue to bring in used dancewear to share with other studio families. We accept & sell used shoes for our studio families. If you have old dance shoes taking up space bring them into the studio with your name and the price you desire. Please see Miss Ashley @ front desk for assistance.

Please join us in maintaining the presentable atmosphere for all studio families and staff members. No food or drinks in studio. Please do not bring drinks, coffee or tea from fast food restaurants in the studio. Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to class or may purchase from receptionist ($1.00 per bottle)

Please do not allow any child to stand on furniture, tap on windows, hang from the window sills or bump into the walls in hallway or lobbies. We can hear the sounds while teaching and it is VERY distracting to the students & teachers in the classrooms.

Please do not block the drive thru or area near the pond with your cars.

Siblings & friends of All Students should not be left unattended in the dance school at any time. An adult MUST supervise siblings and/or friends not participating in class. Friends are not allowed to attend classes with the dancers unless they are having one free trial class to enroll in dance classes. We cannot be responsible for unsupervised children. Students enrolled at the studio should be dropped off 10 minutes prior to class and promptly retrieved after their class time is over. Parental supervision is required prior to and immediately following class time. NEW for 2008-2009: For each 30 minutes the dancer is left at dance school after their last class $5.00 will be added to dance account.

To aid us in providing professional and quality instruction and to ensure that students are comfortable in their dance space while learning or rehearsing teachers & enrolled students are the only persons allowed in dance rooms during class times. (unless otherwise invited by teacher). We appreciate your cooperation & understanding.

Proper attention & behavior is expected of all students at all times. No chewing gum, eating or drinking in dance areas.

Every effort is made by the instructors to begin and end classes on time. If for any reason the instructor runs over time the following class will be extended to compensate. Please realize that the stretching exercises performed in the beginning of class are a vital part of safety in dance. Please make every effort to have the student on time for class.
